A jump with two, called tandem, is the easiest way to experience freefall.A ten minute formation is sufficient to have you jumping from 12 000 feet attached to the harness of a tandem master. This tandem master is a professional skydiver who is specially qualified for this exercise.
During the tandem the tandem master is responsible for all the phases :
- getting equiped
- the plane and the exit
- the freefall and the opening
- flying under the canopy and landing
- packing
all the passenger has to do is enjoy the sensations of freefall and the view that he is while flying with the canopy.
The tandem master is the only one to have a parachute. This parachute is exactly the same as for one skydiver except for the size of the two canopies. The passenger wears a harness with four that will be attached to the tandem masters' rig once in the plane. After a few seconds of freefall the tandem master will pull out a stabaliser which also slows down and later pulls out the main canopy.
A tandem jump requires a medical visit, even though the physical condition necessary is not the same as for the practice of skydiving.
