The French federation was created on the 10^th of december 1949 and has been under the Ministery of Sports' supervision since 1972.

The federation is responsible for the organisation and the promotion of all it's activities.

The federation is member of :

• the French national olympique and sportscomittee,
• the French union of aeronautical and sports federations,
• the European skydiving union,
• the international aeronautical federation (FAI).

It is organised around :

• 24 leagues
• 49 departemental comittees
• 52 schools
• 388 clubs
